Your journal should feel like yours
The things you write in a journal are personal. Hourly Journal is a calm, ad-free place to record your day, with entries saved to your device first and synced when you are online.
On your device
- Every entry, the second you save it
- Readable and writable with no signal
- Your tags, moods and day view
On our servers
- A copy of your entries, so your phone and the web app agree
- Your email address, so you can sign back in
- Encrypted in transit; only if you sign in to sync
Nowhere else
- Ad networks
- Data brokers
- Model training sets
What this means in practice
Write first, sync later
Your entry is written to your device before it needs a connection.
No ads in the way
Your timeline is for your notes, not an advertising feed.
Take a copy with you
A full export of everything is free. Search first and export just what you filtered — that's a Premium feature.
A passcode, not encryption
Lock a workspace with a 4-digit code. It's a privacy screen for a shared phone, not encryption — and it works offline.
Write first. Sync when you can.
Whether you are online or not, your entry is written to your device first. That makes it easier to keep journaling when the signal disappears, and lets you focus on the hour rather than the connection. A copy syncs through our server so your phone, tablet and the web app agree — that's the honest reason we hold it at all.
A journal without ads in the way
Hourly Journal is built for your notes, not interruptions. Your timeline is a place to write, tag, reflect and return to your own days — without an advertising feed competing for your attention.
Take a copy with you
Your journal is a record of your life. Ask for a full, unfiltered export from Manage Profile and we will email you everything, free. If you only want what a search turned up — a tag, a date range, your favourites — exporting that filtered set is a Premium feature.
A better place to keep the day
Use Hourly Journal for the ordinary moments as well as the ones you want to remember: a productive morning, a long walk, a difficult afternoon, a quiet evening.
