Pricing & Delivery

This page sets out what Hourly Journal sells, what it costs, what taxes apply, and how and when a purchase reaches you. Hourly Journal is published by One Simple Life, and every purchase described here is sold by One Simple Life.
What you are buying
Hourly Journal is a journaling app for iOS, Android and the web. The app is free to use: a free account includes hourly and 15-minute entries, tags and moods, day, week and month insights, streaks, achievements, reminders, offline use and a full export of your data.
Premium is an optional paid upgrade to that same account. It adds features such as extra workspaces, custom minutes, unlimited custom tags, the Deep Report, search with filtered export, and dark mode.
Premium is a digital service. There is no physical product, no disc, no printed material and nothing that is shipped or posted to you. Buying Premium unlocks features on the account you are signed in to.
Prices
Customers in India are charged in Indian rupees (INR) through Razorpay:
- Monthly – ₹199 per month
- Yearly – ₹1,199 per year
- Lifetime – ₹1,999 as a single payment (regular price ₹4,999)
Customers outside India are charged in US dollars (USD) through Paddle:
- Monthly – $2.99 /month
- Yearly – $14.99 /year
- Lifetime – $24.99 as a single payment (was $49.99)
If you buy Premium inside the iOS or Android app instead, the price is the one Apple or Google sets for your region, in your local currency. Those store prices are shown to you before you confirm the purchase and may differ from the figures above.
Taxes
For purchases outside India, Paddle.com acts as the merchant of record. The price shown at checkout includes any VAT or sales tax Paddle is required to collect for your country, and Paddle collects and remits it.
For purchases in India through Razorpay, the amount shown at checkout is the amount charged to your payment method. There is no additional tax added after the fact.
For App Store and Google Play purchases, Apple and Google handle any applicable tax as part of the price they display.
How you pay
- Razorpay– used for customers in India, in INR. It accepts cards, UPI, net banking and the other methods Razorpay offers.
- Paddle– used for everyone else, in USD. Paddle is our merchant of record, so “Paddle” is what appears on your card or bank statement.
- Apple App Store and Google Play – in-app purchase, billed by Apple or Google to the payment method on your store account.
On the web, the payment provider is chosen for you: the app reads your browser’s time zone and offers Razorpay in INR to visitors in India and Paddle in USD to everyone else. There is no toggle to switch between the two.
Free trial
The monthly and yearly plans include a 7-day free trial. A valid payment method is required to start a trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the plan begins and you are charged the price for that plan. The lifetime purchase is a single payment and has no trial.
Delivery and activation
Because Premium is a digital service, delivery means activation on your account. Nothing is downloaded, shipped or sent by post.
As soon as your payment is confirmed, Premium is switched on automatically for the account you paid from. This normally happens within a few seconds. For international purchases, where Paddle is the merchant of record, the entitlement is written by a webhook from Paddle, so it can take a few extra seconds; the app keeps checking in the background and unlocks Premium as soon as the confirmation arrives.
Once activated, Premium is available everywhere you are signed in to that account – the iOS app, the Android app and the web app at app.hourlyjournal.com. You do not need to buy it again per device.
If Premium has not appeared within a few minutes, sign out and sign back in to refresh your account. If it still has not appeared, email [email protected] with your account email and we will activate it manually.
Renewals and cancellation
Monthly and yearly plans are subscriptions: they renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the price for that plan, until you cancel. The lifetime purchase does not renew.
You can cancel at any time. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends so the next renewal is not taken. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not end your access straight away, and Premium remains active until the end of the period you have already paid for. Subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play are cancelled in your Apple or Google account settings.
Refunds
Web purchases can be refunded within 7 days of the purchase date. Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are refunded by Apple or Google under their own policies. The full terms are on our Refund Policy page.
